A With Valentine’s day just around the corner I find myself reaching for the floral fragrances. I decided for my next soap to try Cherry Blossom again, which is a nice powdery, romantic fragrance. Well at least it is to me.
I am selecting and prepping my colors when I made the first mistake of this batch. I decided to mix my Titanium Dioxide(TD) with oil. I always mix it with distilled water, but the TD that I have can be mixed with both oil and water. I was having one heck of a time with all the tiny little clumps. I worried that I was going to have flecks in my soap. I even used one of those mini mixers to try to break it down and I was losing this battle :(.
I was also envisioning thin, delicate swirls of pink and green, but as always, I got a little heavy-handed when I divided my soap and ended up with too much pink and green.
I was happy with the pink color but the teal color I was not feeling. It looked a bit too chalky to me. I look into these soap more closely and did encounter a couple of flecks here and there of TD. That will be the last time I use oil to mix in my TD!
Another challenge that I’ve been also been having is with my camera. I have come to the conclusion that I need to accept it and get myself a pair of glasses or the window in my camera is broken and the lens is not focusing properly. I really want to believe in the latter but I am thinking it’s time for an eye exam 🙂
Lighting for my pictures has not been perfect. I prefer to take pictures outside and avoid using my light box all together. Sometimes by the time I arrive home from work it’s already dark, that only leaves the weekends to take pictures outside, which can sometimes be challenging with other plans that I have going on with the kids.
Oh well… we certainly can’t have everything all the time! 🙂 For now dark pictures will have to be the norm for me…at least temporarily 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog!
